The mitogen-activated protein 3 kinase 12 (MAP3K12) alias dual leucine zipper kinase (DLK) is mainly involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases.

Our own studies indicate an involvement of DLK in the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus type 2, an important risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. In this project, we aim to investigate whether SNPs within the DLK gene are associated with cardiovascular risk factors.
