Workshop series with the German Society of Cardiology (DGK)

The joint education programme for young scientists with the DGK (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kardiologie) "Grundlagen der Herz-Kreislauf-Forschung" imparts fundamentals and practical knowledge. The aim is to train and network the young scientists of the DZHK and the DGK. The programme comprises 14 workshops, which will take place in the period 2020-2024.

Spring: Workshop at the DGK annual conference

3/4/2024, Mannheim: Arterial hypertension/pulmonary hypertension

Part I:

> Animal models of arterial hypertension

Part II:
> Molecular mechanisms of pulmonary hypertension

Participation is open to persons who register for the DGK Annual Meeting.

DZG Lunchtime Career Talks

Joint online seminar series of the German Centers for Health Research (DZG): Role models share the experiences they made while following their individual career paths in scientific research, as clinician scientists, in industry or as science managers. Free of charge for all young scientists who belong to one of the DZG.

Clinical trial management academia vs industry

Dr. Katharina Scherschel is biologist by training. After a PhD and postdoctoral studies, she is now since 2020  coordinator for clinicial and translational research on arrhythmias at the Division of Cardiology at the Evangelisches Krankenhaus Düsseldorf. She also leads a junior research group at the Institute of Neural and Sensory Physiology at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.

Dr. Maria Julia Scerbo is a chemist by training. After her PhD at the university in Cordoba she completed several postdoc stays at the university of Madrid, Strasbourg as well as at Helmholtz Munich. Since 2022 she is working in the field of clinical trial management. Her current position is clinical operations manager at Heads – a CRO specialized in hemato-oncology (Contract Research Organisation or Clinical Research Organisation, also known in German as Auftragsforschungsinstitut).
