Fit for Leadership: Mentoring at the DZHK

Participants of the fourth year of the DZHK mentoring programme

The fourth year of the DZHK mentoring programme started in March 2017 with 14 mentees. The programme is targeted at young doctors, scientists and science managers. The goal of the DZHK mentoring programme is to prepare young scientists in the field of cardiovascular research for leadership tasks. It is primarily directed at candidates for whom the reconciliation of career and family poses a particular challenge.

Within the mentoring programme, over the course of one year, mentees gain a better appreciation of their own personality, their social and communication skills and professional abilities. In workshops that cater to their individual needs they can acquire soft skills, while coaching sessions prepare them for challenging situations in future leadership roles. The mentees are guided by mentors which they can choose for themselves.
