Awards and Grants

Prof. Oliver J. Müller (University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel) is receiving almost 360,000 euros and 280,000 euros from the BMBF for two projects with the aim of improving gene transfer with viral vectors in certain gene therapies.

Dr. Marie Schafstedde (German Heart Center Berlin) receives the Young Investigator Award of the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Pädiatrische Kardiologie und angeborene Herzfehler (DGPK).

Karolin Kleemann (University Medical Center Göttingen) receives the Hans Georg Borst Award of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Thorax-, Herz- und Gefäßchirurgie (DGTHG) for the best evaluated abstract of the 50th Annual Meeting.

Dr. Christoph Waldeyer, together with Dr. Fabian J. Brunner (both University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf), receives the Dr. Martini Prize 2021 for a model that calculates the cholesterol-dependent long-term risk of a heart attack. The prize promotes young medical talent.

Prof. David M. Leistner and Prof. Ulf Landmesser (both Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin) lead the project PräVaNet and receive funding from the Innovation Fund, which supports new forms of care and care research. The project tests prevention strategies in high-risk cardiovascular patients with a focus on digital tools.

Prof. Jeanette Erdmann (University of Lübeck) is a new member of the DFG's Permanent Senate Commission on Genetic Research. The Commission advises the DFG Presidium and Senate, but also parliaments and authorities.

Prof. Sebastian Kelle (German Heart Center Berlin) is "Specialty Chief Editor" at the open access journal "Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine".

Dr. Philipp Bengel (University Medical Center Göttingen) was awarded the Rudi-Busse-Young-Investigator-Award of the DGK for his research on the influence of a sodium channel on cardiac arrhythmias in heart failure.
