The aim of the initiative is to open up new avenues in the research, diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease and heart attacks.
The following projects involving the DZHK are among those receiving funding:
- Dr Kami Alexander Pekayvaz (LMU Medical Centre Munich): Identification of the differential origin and proliferation dynamics of the single-cell landscape in human atherosclerotic plaques
- PD Dr. Leo Nicolai, PD Dr. Rainer Kaiser (LMU Medical Centre Munich): Therapeutic target thromboinflammation – inhibition of procoagulant platelets in coronary heart disease
- Prof. Dr. Christina Magnussen (University Heart and Vascular Centre Hamburg): Influence of nicotine consumption on the risk of heart attack and potential lifetime gain from smoking cessation in Germany
- Dr. Zhifen Chen (TUM Medical Centre / German Heart Centre Munich): RNA-based therapy augmenting CDH13 expression for atherosclerosis
