PD Dr Alexander Teumer (University Medicine Greifswald) has been awarded a Heisenberg Professorship by the German Research Foundation in the field of ‘Genetic Epidemiology’.

Prof. Dr. mult. Stefan W. Hell (Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Natural Sciences) receives the highest honour of the state of Lower Saxony for his scientific achievements and services to the state's research landscape.

Prof Andreas Daiber and Prof Thomas Münzel (Mainz University Medical Centre) are coordinating the EU project ‘MARKOPOLO’ with 8 million euros in EU funding and 1.28 million euros from Switzerland. From 2025, the consortium will be investigating the health effects of traffic noise and air pollution.

Prof Daniel Rückert (Technical University of Munich) receives the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize 2025, endowed with 2.5 million euros, for his research into AI-assisted medical imaging.

Dr. med. Jasper Iske (Deutsches Herzzentrum der Charité) receives the "DTG Young Investigator Award" for his research on the transplantation of older donor organs.

Dr Monika Sadlonova (University Medical Centre Göttingen) receives the Lower Saxony Science Prize for her pioneering work in psychosomatics with a focus on cardiac medicine and interdisciplinary university development.

Once again this year, DZHK scientists have made it into the Highly Cited Researchers Ranking. This means that they are among the world's ‘most cited minds’ in their respective fields.

Prof. Dr. Martin Halle (Technical University of Munich), together with his team, is awarded the Hufeland Prize by the German Medical Insurance for demonstrating the positive effects of exercise during dialysis.

The team from the University Medical Centre Göttingen (UMG) and the Lübeck Campus of the University Medical Centre Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) receives the German University Medicine Award 2024 for "heart patches"—laboratory-grown heart tissue for patients with severe heart disease.

Dr Zhifen Chen (Technical University of Munich) receives a grant of 1 million euros from the Corona Foundation for her research into obesity as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
