The Göttingen research group was able to demonstrate that a new molecular target molecule in heart disease called dysferlin protects the integrity of the tubule-sarcoplasmic reticulum junctional complexes for regulated excitation-contraction coupling. Furthermore, it controls the reorganisation of the TAT network and the proliferation of the tubule membrane in pressure overload-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy.
