The DZHK-funded TRICI-HF-DZHK24 study investigated whether transcatheter tricuspid-valve repair improves outcomes in patients with symptomatic severe tricuspid regurgitation and an increased risk of heart-failure events.
Compared with medical therapy alone, transcatheter repair plus medical therapy improved the combined outcome of survival, heart-failure hospitalization and quality of life at one year. Over three years, it was also associated with a substantially lower risk of death or hospitalization for heart failure.
For patients, this means that transcatheter tricuspid-valve repair may offer a treatment option that not only improves quality of life but can also reduce the risk of hospitalization and death.
