Katheterablation bei Patienten mit VHF und schwerer Mitralinsuffizienz nach erfolgreicher Transkatheter-Mitralklappenreparatur
The CABA-MiTRA-AFNET12-DZHK34 study investigates whether catheter ablation is more effective than standard medical treatment in protecting patients with atrial fibrillation who have undergone mitral valve repair from stroke and other serious complications.
Mitral regurgitation is the most common heart valve disease among older adults. Patients with this condition generally undergo a catheter-based procedure to repair the defective heart valve. Many of these patients also have atrial fibrillation, a heart rhythm disorder that can be treated either with medication or catheter ablation. However, it has not yet been investigated whether catheter ablation offers benefits over standard medical treatment in patients who have undergone mitral valve repair.
The study is being conducted jointly by the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK) and the German Atrial Fibrillation Network (AFNET). It aims to enroll 956 patients with atrial fibrillation who have undergone successful mitral valve repair within the previous six months.
