Myocarditis is a common cause for sudden cardiac death in young adults. The infiltration of monocytes into the myocardium represents a hallmark of the disease. Leuschner et.al. we investigated the importance of chemokine (C-C motif) receptor 2 (CCR2) in mice with myocarditis and employed in vivo siRNA silencing in combination with non-invasive molecular imaging. They identified an alteration on leukocyte progenitor
trafficking by siRNA silencing and presented human data indicating the clinical importance of the chemokine receptor CCR2.
