Profile of Partner Site

The DZHK partner site Rhine-Main combines the expertise of experimentally and clinically active researchers in the field of cardiovascular medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt, the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research and the Kerckhoff Clinic in Bad Nauheim as well as the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz.

The partner site has set itself the goal of identifying epigenetic markers and mediators of cardiovascular disease in order to stimulate the repair and regeneration of blood vessels and myocardial tissue. Another focus is the investigation of platelet function and thrombosis mechanisms as well as vasoactive and metabolically active enzymes in vascular disease. Modern imaging techniques in patients shall help researchers better understand the molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular disease and advance the use of novel, targeted therapeutic approaches in the sense of personalized medicine.
