The group‘s research aims to increase the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of heart failure. In particular, we study how signals from the sympathetic nervous system are transduced into the cardiac myocyte, which processes are subsequently triggered and what molecular alterations occur during heart failure development. Over the past years, we have concentrated our attention on the redox-regulation of protein kinase signalling and the effect on posttranslational regulation of kinases and their substrates. Through this, we have recently established disease-specific posttranslational fingerprints of the myofilament proteome in human heart failure tissue by combining interdisciplinary techniques such as molecular biology and redox-proteomics analyses.
